#100percentalabama Entry #2 :: Birmingham sits in the only place on Earth where large deposits of Coal, iron ore, and limestone exist close to each other. These three materials are used to make steel. It is the reason Birmingham was founded. AMERICAN (aka ACIPCO aka American Cast Iron Pipe Company) remains an active artifact from a once dominating industry. Photo by: @carynorton

Take a seat, great for writing letters, eating a sandwich or talking face to face with friends. Of course, this is made from urban timber, the same red oak trees ? that fell in last weekends storm. Photo by @carynorton

As many of you know, we just moved to Birmingham a few months ago; Cliff back home after 20+ years away; Leigh as a 100% newbie. We are constantly seeing “new-to-you” things and hopefully from different perspectives. By perusing the portfolios of some of the many talented photographers based here, I have learned lot about this diverse state and have a bucket list to explore. Look for #100percentAlabama. No product or cutting wood. Just great shots of what Birmingham, Alabama and The South have to offer. The Good People Brewing @gpbrewing in downtown Birmingham. It gets hot down here. Beer has never tasted so good. Photo by: @carynorton
